÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥'s General Education (GenEd08) curriculum consists of knowledge and skill components considered to be critical for all University graduates to master in the subject matter areas listed below. As a student at Lorain County Community College (LCCC), you may choose to take these GenEd08 courses at LCCC or at CSU. Please contact a LCCC advisor for guidance on courses required to receive your associate's degree.

Foreign Language 

STUDENTS WHO GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL IN 1987 OR LATER ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: STUDENTS WHO GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL BEFORE 1987 ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
  • Two years of a single foreign language in high school.
  • An introductory level sequence of a single foreign language (generally, two semesters of 100-level study).
  • ASLG courses at Lorain County Community College do not apply toward the Foreign Language Deficiency (FLD). 

And 

  • An additional year of a single foreign language in high school (i.e. 3 years total).
  • Two semesters of 100-level study in a language different than that completed in high school.
  • Two semesters of 200-level intermediate study of language completed in high school.
  • Two approved foreign culture courses (BMus students only). 
  • An introductory level sequence of a single foreign language (generally two semesters of 100-level study).
  • Two approved foreign culture courses.
